The holidays are coming, and my uncle is planning on following as many traditional Japanese customs as he can. I've been tasked with attempting to find a place that makes Christmas cakes, so we can present them to neighbors. I'm hoping this is not as difficult as it sounds.

I believe I did well on my finals, I hope others did too.

Things seem to be picking up. I was debating on volunteering down at the homeless shelter down the street for Thanksgiving, helping to serve food and such. Would anyone want to help?

I think I need a new job. The botanical gardens are pretty, but it's not really a good place for advancement. Does anyone know of any place that is hiring?

School is going well, it's nice to sit and listen to people discuss things in a reasonable manner.

The Halloween festivities were interesting, I liked my costume a lot. I had fun, although I wasn't exactly the most social of revelers. I just hope there can be more events or reasons to try and be social.

I need more friends.

School has been getting back to normal now that people seem to be recovering from that sickness. It's nice, to see more people around the campus. It was slightly odd to have the campus be such a ghost town.

I've heard rumblings of a Halloween party. I wonder what type of costume I should get. I'm sure a lot of the good ones are taken. Hm.

I have discovered that my insistence upon using natural remedies to help keep myself healthy seems to have bolstered my immune system to the point where I have not been affected by this illness. It's given me ample time to study the effects the virus-like event has had on those who were not so lucky and all I can conclude is that my cleaner-living lifestyle has helped.

If anyone is in need of more homeopathic options to boost their immune system please let me know.

There is apparently some kind of sickness going around, which I found out about through the news, the journals, and the small child who emptied her upset stomach on my shoes at the bus stop. They were older shoes anyway, so I wasn't worried.

I've been working on brewing some ginger tea to bring to those who are sick, since it helps to settle the stomach and has many healing properties. Would anyone like some?

I haven't used this thing in a while, I had honestly forgotten about it. School is going well, I was mostly unaffected by the earthquake although some of my items did break. I've been volunteering at a local shelter to help those less fortunate, and it's been a nice experience.

Still, I should probably get out and be sociable more often.

Things seem to be progressing well on my quest to become more sociable.

I was able to get a job tutoring a fellow student in Philosophy and Religion-based classes, I attended an event at a popular bar or restaurant, and I even went shopping at the mall to pick up some new shoes.

Admittedly, other than the tutoring I was essentially left to my own devices, but still - progress.

I wonder what else I could do.

I think I need to stop spending so much time on the archery field, reading books, and looking at flowers and start getting out more. I want to meet people, and find friends. Maybe even go on a date. I've always been so serious, and I think that's making everything tougher.

I realize I'm quiet and boring, and not many people are interested in Religion or Japanese History, but perhaps I can start going out more and see what happens.

I've decided to attempt to offer archery lessons again, after summer classes get out on Thursdays. I am hoping people take an interest. Also, I discovered a book series called Discworld which appears to be amusing. Perhaps these books will break up the day for me.

I wish I had realized I missed the first summer session of classes, but thankfully I was able to get into the second session. I truly feel this boost to my continued education will help in the long run, but I must attempt to 'have more fun' this time.

I should get out of the house more.

I have heard tell of much by way of crime, so I've been keeping to myself, but perhaps that is just stifling me.

I'll have to find something to do this weekend.

In regards to the archery class I was considering starting, the college has given me permission to use their archery field. I have arranged a time of 2pm to be used on Monday and Wednesday afternoons depending on interest. I just need a head count so I know how many targets, bows, and quivers I would need to borrow.

I spoke with my father the other day. It was difficult coordinating a call to Japan but it was good to hear from him. He sounded well, I am hoping he is still.

Would anyone be interested?

School has ended, and I can't help but be somewhat melancholy over it. I was just starting to really settle into the more social aspect. I suppose I should find a job that would allow me more of a chance to interact with my fellow students. I don't know, I do like the Botanical Gardens.

Speaking of that, I have heard that there's a woman looking for help with flowers. I am certainly interested.

To think, most of the college appears to be fascinated with these journal-things and I have only recently gotten one even though I have been attending the college for just under two years. I was told I need to be more social and get out more, so this is an attempt.

My name is Kikyou, and I am a second-year student at Mishima University. I study Religion and I am minoring in Japanese History. I enjoy archery, origami, herbal medicines, and Japanese traditions. I have been living in America for around six years. I am interning at the Botanical Gardens.
